Introducing a story of a man who came from United States and falls in love with a Punjabi girl. It's a story about their marriage, her condition to get married, and how he manages to get married. A common misconception is that marriages between people from India and people from abroad are not possible because of the law changes in 2010 prohibiting NRIs from marrying Indian citizens. These changes did not apply to marriages which took place before 2010. In this marriage, the spouse was an Indian citizen so it is legal even though they got married after 2010. A true story of love transcending the boundaries set by modern society... Sweetiee Weds NRI is the story of Aman (Mishal Raheja). Aman is in love with Manpreet (Ayesha Khanna) and wants to marry her. Manpreet loves him but is not sure if she wants an "arranged marriage". While on vacation in India, Aman meets his childhood friend Malwinder (Ravi Jhankal), whose parents are desperately looking for a suitable Punjabi girl for their son to marry. They agree upon the condition that Manpreet will have to come to America and live with them for six months before the marriage takes place. Aman calls Manpreet, telling her that he needs help with his visa, and that he would like to get married within two weeks. She is confused and tells him that she will think about it. He then calls Malwinder's parents and proposes the idea to them. They agree to the proposal, and the wedding takes place in Punjab, India. Aman brings Manpreet back to America and they live with Malwinder's parents for six months. Manpreet: Manpreet is a spunky 18-year-old Punjabi gal who works in a bar during the day and goes to school at night. She lives with her very traditional Indian parents who want an arranged marriage for her. She is not sure if she wants to be married, but she definitely does not want an arranged marriage. Manpreet, who is more comfortable in traditional Punjabi attire than western clothing, has never even seen the ocean before. When she first sees it she wonders if it is a lake because it has so much water. She also gets seasick on the cruise to America and takes Dramamine to feel better. Manpreet's parents were previously divorced, so she has no role models of a successful marriage. Her family is very conservative, and they have a hard time understanding her desire for independence. Manpreet has never been in a relationship before and has little knowledge about love and romance. Despite this she is a very optimistic girl with a positive outlook on life. Manpreet can be quite stubborn at times but will always think twice about what she says or does after she says it or does it. She is never afraid to speak her mind though. cfa1e77820
